Hello and Thank you for visiting this website
My name is Tamara, and I live in a quaint little rural town in Ontario, Canada. This community actively engages in promoting environmental programs that reduce, reuse, and recycle. The residents here have inspired me to become a better steward of the environment.
For many years I have held a deep commitment to observing a weekly day of rest, and being surrounded by environmentally conscious individuals has led me to believe that the planet could benefit from sustianable activities and a break one day a week. As I focus on enhancing my mental and spiritual well-being, I find that this practice is immensely beneficial for me, and I am particularly thrilled that it contributes positively to the environment.
I created this website, encouraged by my husband and my son the website www.earthsabbath.world, is to advocate for weekly Earth Sabbaths. I have experienced significant personal benefits from keeping this practice and believe that if more individuals embraced a weekly Earth Sabbath, it could have a profound impact on our environment. As a mother, I aspire to leave a better world for my son and future generations.
My awareness of traditional sabbaths, along with my participation in a Earth Day celebrations, led me to realize that an annual Earth Day observance was not enough; weekly participation would help reduce energy consumption by upto 1 7th. Additionally, Pope Francis introduced the idea of a weekly Earth Sabbath in his encyclical, "Laudato Si'," which resonated with me, prompting me to incorporate it into my life for a holistic approach to my well-being, emphasizing the balance between work and rest and care for the environment.
My website promotes weekly Earth Sabbath practices that aim to reduce harmful activities to the environmental while enhancing personal well-being. I would like to introduce the weekly Earth Sabbath through my website
I want to share with you that i have been keeping weekly Earth Sabbath for some time now. Sometimes it is celebrated in conjunction with the Christian Sabbath, and sometimes i celebrate a tradtional sabbath and a weekly earth sabbath . When keeping the Christian Sabbath I am careful to worship the creator not the creation. When celebrating the Christian Sabbath man rests from all his labor on the Christian Sabbath day. In doing this man rests and my practices also allows the earth to rest. I want to stress that a weekly earth sabbath is not a religious sabbath its focus is to participate in sustainable activieties and activities that don't harm the environment. These activivites can be added to your sabbath day. I keep a earth sabbath one day a week sometimes on different days of the week. The Christian Sabbath teaches that Sabbath was made for man. While it was made for man the earth sometimes benefits from our practices on this day and gets the chance to rest. A traditional sabbath helps care for my body, my soul and my home, the Earth. A weekly earth sabbath emphazises care for the planet. I celebrate an Earth Sabbath once a week. Not everyone is a Christian and will rest on the Christian sabbath day, so regardless of religion or belief i am encouraging others to rest and take part in reducing their energy consumption one day a week by one seventh and give the planet a break on an weekly Earth sabbath day of their choosing once a week according to their own tradation of what earth sabbath is to themselves. Christians are to be stewards of the Earth. Likewise keeping a weekly earth sabbath in addition to other sabbath tradtions promotes a weekly rest for the planet in an effort of good environmental stewardship. By adding earth sabbath activities we can make tradionial sabbaths even more meaningful and beneficial to the planet as well as ourselves. I want to stress Earth Sabbath is for everyone regardless of your culture, religion, experiences, involvements and talents. This is my testimony, I encorage everyone to keep their own Sabbath traditions that gives the earth rest, thus supporting the weekly earth sabbath movement.
Be a solution to the environmental crisis and keep weekly Earth Sabbaths
